Return to Turtle Island
As my sister and her daughters relocate from one army base to the next, they travel through the open landscape of the American Midwest. At a time when both personal and national
identities are in flux the enduring presence of the land becomes
a steadfast companion through a time of uncertainty. This project is an ode to the tenderness of family bonds and a call to value our mutually dependant relationship with the landscape.

This is a search,
for both me and her.
A search for connection
with each other
and with the world around us,
the world beneath our feet.
This is me,
looking at her
and wondering
what she is thinking,
wondering
what she wants to say.
This is us
looking up
and at each other.
